It was recently announced that in February 2012, Betfair online gambling company will be part of a sponsorship agreement for the massive National Hunt Meeting of Newbury event. This event has a famous handicap hurdle race that is one of the richest in Europe, and will be offering prize money worth £152, 500.
The hurdle race, once known as the Totesport Trophy, is currently called the Betfair Hurdle race, which was part of the sponsorship agreement that was made and will last for a minimum of three years. What’s more, Betfair has also announced it will sponsor the coverage of RTE’s horseracing for the entire 2012 season.
One of Betfair’s spokespeople said that the company is thrilled to be sponsoring RTE Sports’s media coverage. Having been a long time supporter of horseracing in Ireland, the huge investment will assist in securing the most up-to-date coverage of all RTE sports and races. RTE televises 23 days of popular races that take place in Ireland within a single year.
